Housing for Olympia Place Student

THIS POSTING IS FOR OLYMPIA PLACE STUDENTS ONLY

Are you looking for a beautiful, cheerful and safe place to call home? This wonderful setting with water views provides the illusion that you are living in the backwoods of Maine yet you are 10 minutes...
to town/campus. What is unique about this home (in addition to the waterviews) is the fact we choose to build a community within the house each year. Many long term friendships have started here and people enjoy sharing a spontaneous meal or hanging out by the wood stove as they study. When challenges happen - car repair drop offs, needing to quarrentine with COVID or some other hurdle, housemates are often there for each other. Even the stress of exams gets easier with folks to cheer you on before and ask how it went after.

What’s to like: water views from your room, private bathroom, a homey feel, multiple hiking trails from the house, spacious corner room with very comfortable bed, desk, easy chair, bureau and a large walk in closet. Living room, dining room, kitchen, front patio overlooking the water, and 2 bathrooms are shared space. Washer, dryer, dishwasher and other kitchen appliances. Fully stocked kitchen. Off street parking. Woodstove and central heat. All utilities included in rent. Courteous, friendly household. LBGTQ+ friendly. Sweet dog and house cats who will gladly adopt you.

Who we’re seeking: a student committed to co-creating a wonderful place to call home through May. This is likely to include: some shared time (e.g. occasional meals or morning coffee), consideration of others, taking good care of home, flexibility, communications and bringing your unique good energy to the household.

Who lives here: The house is shared with 3 other students and the owner (who is a local college staff member) . All housemates are invited to participate in the mutual selection process.

Other details: This opportunity is available for a single person (not a couple). A car is essential. Housework is shared. The property is non-smoking. The 12 x 14 room has a spacious locking patio door overlooking a water view. There are multiple hiking trails adjacent to the house. We are on a quiet road with significantly more hikers than cars. (This room is not usually rented out but is being freed up to support a fire victim. It is the master bedroom. Furnishings will be slightly different than shown in the photos but are as good or better.) The website forces a lease duration, there is no lease but this specific room is being offered at least through May. A pet who is compatible with housemates and our pets may be considered.
