Small Furnished Room on quiet dead end street

This room is available starting September 1, 2025. Please read through the listing and then message me with a little about yourself. If you sound like a good fit we can set up a phone call and a possible meeting time to show the room.

We are...
seeking a graduate student or professional female to fill a small furnished room. This is a fully furnished house for a visiting scholars who want to live in a shared home of females. Not available to undergraduates. We have house dinners on occasions and keep a friendly, family atmosphere around the house.

The room is one of two bedrooms located on the second floor of a home with a shared entrance. Full bathroom shared by the two (2) upstairs tenants. Rent includes wifi Internet, electric, heat, hot water, and trash removal. We provide linens for the bed and bath towels. The bedroom is furnished with a twin size bed, nightstand, desk, bookshelf and dresser. There is a full closet in the hallway for your personal use, and a smaller closet in the bedroom. South facing windows for lots of light.

There is one bedroom downstairs which is occupied by the homeowner. She is retired, and likes to cook, bake, watch movies and read. She is happy to give you rides to get groceries or other errands. The house is near the train tracks. The train goesg by a few times a day. Guests have always gotten used to it after a few days, but light sleeper won't like it.

There is a common room on the second floor in addition to the two bedrooms This space is for the upstairs tenants use. It had a kitchen table, futon couch, coffee table and bookshelves. It has a small sink, small refrigerator, coffee pot, and microwave. There is a full kitchen downstairs for primary cooking with shared pots and pans, dishes and cookware. The upstairs common space is perfect for a light meal or snacks, and you have full use of the main kitchen. Laundry on site in basement.

We will ask you to help out the female home owner with small chores around the house, especially with occasional heavy lifting (for example: taking out the trash). You will need to shovel snow in the winter. Month to month lease. First and last month rent required. References will be requested.

The house is on a dead end street about a mile from downtown (address is 60 Spaulding Street in Amherst). Very quiet considering the proximity to town. We would prefer someone without a car because there is limited room in the driveway. We are on the PVTA 30 bus stop and about a 25 minute walk to UMass campus. Quiet backyard, quiet neighborhood.
