Lovely, light-filled suite close to campus

Hello,

We are renting out a two-room suite in our home in downtown Amherst for 12 months starting August 1, 2025. Our preferred tenant would be a graduate student, visiting scholar, or otherwise mature person. If after reading the below you feel...
this would be a good fit, feel free to send a short email telling us a bit about yourself.

The house is a large, historically interesting one located on a quiet, beautiful street within walking distance of UMass, town, and Amherst College. We are a family of three - a journalist/professor, an entrepreneur/fundraiser, and our six-year-old son. We speak a mix of German and English at home.

The rooms are 12'x13’ and 8'x11’ and are set up as a bedroom and a study/living room with some kitchen amenities. Both have nice natural light and a closet (one of which is quite large) and are connected by spacious hallways with bookshelves. Furnishings include a queen mattress, daybed, desk, chairs, side tables, and lamps -- but we are happy to remove any items that aren't of use.

The suite has a mini-fridge, toaster, microwave, and kettle but not a full kitchen. Our outgoing tenant had a UMass meal plan, often ate out with friends, and also came to our kitchen to wash dishes (and sometimes share meals after we became friends).

The suite's large bathroom has a washer-dryer, which we would share on a schedule that suits you. All utilities are included: Wifi, electricity, heat, hot water, laundry, trash and recycling pickup.

The suite is on the second floor of our house and is accessed through our kitchen. It is separated from our upstairs living quarters by a door. While we will be respectful of your privacy, it’s worth noting that some sound travels from our quarters to yours and vice versa. So we’re hoping to find someone whose rhythms and routines are compatible with those of a young family.

Our outgoing tenant, who was with us for 2.5 years, was a mid-career PhD candidate who was friendly, mature, neat, quiet, and self-sufficient - pretty much the ideal of what we’re looking for in our next tenant.

If you think this sounds like a possible fit for you, please feel free to reach out. We look forward to hearing from you!
