Hello! We rent a room in our home about 3 1/2 miles from UMass. The room itself is for one person, but out-of-town visitors allowed to stay overnight. YOU: The ideal person is a mature grad student or visiting faculty or professional who is regularly employed or a student and COVID-19 pandemic aside -- has a life outside the home with work or school. We'll ask for proof of COVID-19 vaccination as well. US: This is our family home and relatively quiet. We have a very friendly cat, and the usual comings and goings of life, with working parents, college students who come and go (mostly away), , and friends and family who visit on occasion. HOUSE CULTURE: The house is comfortable with lots of light -- in a rural setting. We're looking for the right fit as you are! We would be delighted to enjoy some meals or socializing together, if the timing is right! THE HOUSE, THE ROOM, THE AMENITIES: The rent is $900 a month and includes all utilities, internet, use of washer/dryer, full kitchen, and enjoyment of three sitting/living areas on the first floor (our bedrooms and a 2nd bathroom are upstairs), plus outdoor area. Our listing on Airbnb is "Sweet Bedroom and Bath in Historic Village" if you want to see more photos! The bedroom is on the first floor and is furnished with a twin bed (with a trundle bed underneath), book shelf, table and chair, and dresser. Furniture can be moved around or even out of the room. There is a sizable closet, two windows, an a/c in summer, and nicely heated in the cold weather! There's room for storage in other closets or in the basement. Linens (towels, sheets, blankets, pillows ) available for the rental term if needed. The first floor bathroom is primarily used by renter (tub/shower uniquely renter's). There is room for a car in the driveway and a place for bike or other storage in garage. Several renters have biked to UMass in non-snowy weather. There is no PVTA bus in this area. Our house is on an acre of land, surrounded by farms, along the CT River. We have a barn with a screened in sitting area which is delightful in the right season, and we also live near several trails. DATES/LEASE OR NO LEASE: Dates are negotiable and lease is renewable -- even if you leave for summer and then return. Depending on time of year, it's possible to rent for just a month or two, or from four to eight to ten months. REFERENCES: If you're interested in renting, please have references available (names, phone #s, emails ) of former landlords or employers or professors. We can provide references too if you'd like. Please note, inside our home and on our property: there is no smoking of any kind permitted (not 420 friendly one might say), and no illegal drug use will be tolerated. We've had some wonderful folks who've lived here short term and for about a year: a student from France, a software coder, a doctor, a PhD student from U of Georgia in a UMass USGS internship, a chemist (originally from Sri Lanka) finishing up a grant. Don't hesitate to get in touch with questions.
